My experience with your engine symptoms:

Rebuild it now while you have something to rebuild, or do a Subaru or Bostig conversion before it self-destructs. This is why there are so few 2.1 engine cores.

Anybody have a good idiots guide step by step for flushing coolant system?
You know haven't changed since I bought the van three years ago... Never
done I've before... Think it's time? Prestone is the good stuff right?

I hear there is a method using a shop vac...

To bring it full circle, a cool engine is a happy engine! And a happy
engine shouldn't have flickering lights!
