And speaking of that small type of vacuum hose, on the 2.1 one of these hoses runs to the rubber boot at the idle stabilization valve. A crack at the small nipple where it meets the boot body could open up at times, or not, depending on hose position? Regardless, it's a potential source of a vacuum leak. Repaired that part on my 2.1 just recently. Not sure how long repair will last but I sleeved the small nipple with (fuel?) hose and covered all with "Industrial" Gloop which is probably a knock off of "Goop" but not "Gorp" ;) Of note, was intrigued to find a restrictor in that small nipple. Same purpose as restrictor used on the 1.9 for the EVAP system? Neil. Put it back on, and magically all is fixed. -- Neil n Blog: tubaneil.blogspot.ca '88 Westy http://tinyurl.com/c8rlw6p '81 VanaJetta 2.0 "Jaco" http://tubaneil.googlepages.com/ Vanagon VAG *Gas* inline-VR Engine Swap Group: http://tinyurl.com/d7gd5ej
