That's what rags are for.  Stuff the area under the MC before filling.

   I don't think having the brake and clutch reservoir above all the
electrical connections in the dash is very smart at all.  It isn't hard to
remove that cowl but it's also pretty easy to spill or dribble brake fluid
down into all those wires and terminals.
