Happy ThanksGiving to all.... for while I am tired of the bland/ultra-smooth mashed potatoes... this my own recipe for mashed potatoes... I hope you enjoy it... *special recipe for mashed potatoes.* average ingredients for 1 person - 2 medium size potatoes peeled and chopped in half - 1 medium size carrot peeled and chopped in quarter - 1/2 stick of leek (optional) chopped in small pieces - 1 chopped garlic clove - 1 egg yolk - 1/4 stick of butter - 1/4 pint of heavy whipping cream - couple dash of nutmeg - salt - sugar multiply the above for the number of persons you want to serve. - boil water with one tea spoon of salt in a big pot, when water is ready drop in the potatoes - boil water with 1/2 tea spoon of salt in a small pot, when water is ready drop in the carrots and leeks - check the potatoes and the carrots with a chopstick - when it went thru the potatoes and the carrots, they are ready - do not overcook. - drain and put the carrots in the potatoes. - under low heat, add the garlic, the butter, the egg yolk, the leeks and the whipping cream. - Smash the whole thing with a potato smasher unevenly (not finely) because you want to have a chunky mashed potatoes - taste - add salt and sugar, nutmeg to your liking - turn of the heat and cover - it's ready to serve. Bon appétit..
