Think you mean I-80 across Wyoming. And yes, the snow drift barricades west of Cheyenne would be the first sign that you are entering a region of potential nasty winter situations. I think that section between Laramie and Rawlins was the least populated section of road I’ve traveled on, on an Interstate. > On Jan 14, 2015, at 3:53 PM, Dave Mcneely <mcneely4@COX.NET> wrote: > > Hello list, > > Some of you may remember that I was moving to Spokane WA, and asked for some advice concerning driving there from Oklahoma in winter. Well, I now live in Spokane. So far as the drive out, after doing it, I will only say: Never drive across Wyoming on I-84 in winter. We made it fine, but 50 mph cross winds and heavy blowing snow are not my idea of fun. When I asked the "information provider" at the Wyoming Welcome Center if I should wait for better driving conditions, she asked, "What you want to wait till summer?" A while after I was committed to the drive, notices were posted advising high profile vehicles to get off the road, and later the road was closed to high profile vehicles. We were in the Prius, and continued, but made only 380 miles that day, including a long stretch of good driving in Colorado. The Blue Mountains in Oregon required chains, tto, but only for 20 miles or so. > > But, we are here and everything is great. > > mcneely
