Sounds like you installed the new switch without the spacer-washer.

Subject: Reverse lights going crazy
I recently decided to replace my reverse light switch on the drivers side of
my transmission, ('84 manual westy). The symptom I was chasing was a
flickering of the reverse lights when in reverse. After replacing the
switch, the reverse lights now come on "almost" all the time no matter what
gear I'm in. A friend suggested I replace the crimp connectors that connect
to the two contacts on the switch. Did that. No change. What gives? Anybody
ever seen this?Have something to add on this topic today? Revive this thread in the forum »
