There are several adjustments for the door - where it bolts to the rear roller and also one where it bolts to the lower roller. It can take some fiddling to get it right. This last weekend I replaced and lubricated all the rollers/bearings and I also applied some UHMW tape to the surfaces the rollers contact (rather than grease). The door is now very very smooth and quite, almost as quite as sliding doors on modern cars. While you're in there do some cleaning, sanding, and painting under the panel that covers the track. Also replace the rubber seal for the panel. I got the idea for tape from this thread: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=381226&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0&sid=8d918102b91aa770399b8c122dbf32cf On Tue, Feb 10, 2015 at 12:35 PM, Dan N <dn92610@gmail.com> wrote: > not a lot to do because the door is heavy ... > > but the solution is replacing all the rollers top, bottom and rear > > On Tue, Feb 10, 2015 at 10:31 AM, Marc Perdue <mcperdue@gmail.com> wrote: > > > Since Don brought it up, is there anything that can be done in terms > > of adjusting the door or any of its parts to make it easier to close > > and open?
