A couple of years ago, good friend Stephen and I mocked up similar mechanism, very similar infact, to help load my big canoe on the van. The story of both our lives, didn't take it any further. I was put off by how it blocked the hatch door. I'm telling you this not to say " I thought of first" but rather to say it's a good idea but not without some drawbacks. One end rests on the gutter & the other on the ground, this happens on the side of the vehicle. You walk the kayak up to the top one side after the other, the pegs hold it in place as you are putting it up. > Looked good in the pictures... > > Rob > vwrobb@gmail.com > > > At 2/10/2015 06:37 AM,Gary Anderson wrote: >> I normally carry my kayak in my vanagon. With the front passenger seat turned sideways, a 12’3” kayak just fits from the hatch back to the dashboard, but leaves no room for passengers (and also tends to make a mess with saltwater, dirt, and fish stink). I’d like to carry it on the top of the van, but I don’t think I could handle the loading/ unloading sequence. This accessory might do the trick? Has anyone on the list had any experience with it? >> Gary >> >> >> > http://www.abc.net.au/tv/newinventors/txt/s3148158.htm
