There's tons of info and opinions on this everywhere. Vwvortex has some interesting debates. I run Shell Rotella T6 in my gas powered VW's with what I consider success. But really, who knows? I would have had to buy 2 identical cars and drive them the exact same way, one with the diesel oil and the other with gas, and drive them both to failure, which could take over years. I suppose oil analysis and pressure readings would tell you something, but I think most of the opinions you will get are purely subjective and based on not much real information. -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Zoran Mladen Sent: Sunday, March 01, 2015 10:21 AM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Diesel Oil in a vanagon - is it safe? A recent post triggered a question I have had for quite some time. Is it safe to use Diesel oil in a gas engine? I have researched this online and the general data indicated that you cannot. Looking for everyone's input on this. I have met folks that say it is acceptable. I have also met folks who stated it is absolutely not acceptable and will damage the engine. Please help! Thanx! Z
