Here in Seattle we pay for garbage we take to the dump by weight, about $100/ton.  Every transfer station weighs you in and out, but the minimum dump fee is $15. So, I use the van when the junk is clean or bagged, usually car parts and other project debris.

How exactly do you make use of the scales?
Can anyone just drive though and get their van weighed? Is there a cost involved?
