The engine has to be running so it can pull a vacuum at vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator. This pulls the diaphram which then allows the regulator to pass excess fuel through and back to the fuel tank. Is the vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator ok? When engine runs briefly, does it pull air through that hose? -- Neil n Blog: Vanagons, Westfalia, general <http://tubaneil.blogspot.ca> 1988 Westy Images <https://picasaweb.google.com/musomuso/New1988Westy> 1981 Westfalia "Jaco" Images, technical <http://tubaneil.googlepages.com/> Vanagon-Bus VAG Gas Engine Swap Group <http://tinyurl.com/khalbay>
