"Way off" can mean many things. With that in mind... If the diesel tank is the same design as early (large fill pipe) gas tanks, I found that the fill hole on the aftermarket tank I put in my '81 air cooled was tough to line up to the hole in the frame. Or put another way, I had to be really careful how I assembled and lined up the filler pipe. Not saying it's the same make of tank offered by Bus Depot though. Image of what I mean: http://tinyurl.com/p96hbrv The fill pipe was too close to front and bottom of frame hole. Fuel starting leaking at the fill pipe grommet. I managed to reposition the fill pipe so it sealed properly in the grommet but it *just* fits and has been working fine. Caveat: that was my first time at fuel tank resealing. Neil.
