Not long after I bought my '88 Westy, I got the WBX engine to at least run better. (idle issues mostly). At that time, I didn't see any coolant leaks, the power was "ok", so I thought I'd stick with that engine platform. The recent coolant loss issue that cropped up was kind of a bummer. Many are familiar with that feeling. The worst part is that it appeared to be a coolant use issue. The good news is that I am about certain I found the leak; the rear heater valve O ring. Since removing the heater and capping the lines, I haven't seen the coolant level change in about 150 KM's. So, a big thanks to the helpful folks on this list! I think that leak issue fell into the 'insidious leak' types that (Jim Felder?) mentioned. Hopefully I won't eat these words! ;) Neil. -- Neil n Blog: Vanagons, Westfalia, general <http://tubaneil.blogspot.ca> 1988 Westy Images <https://picasaweb.google.com/musomuso/New1988Westy> 1981 Westfalia "Jaco" Images, technical <http://tubaneil.googlepages.com/> Vanagon-Bus VAG Gas Engine Swap Group <http://tinyurl.com/khalbay>
