I did it on my '86 weekender (manufactured in '85). Was plug and play-
remove clock, insert tach, with due care for the old ribbon and plastic
bits. IIRC you may be able to do this with some '85s as well, but not sure.
Earlier vans require the more involved procedure linked by others.
