Mercedes 16 wheels can be a number of different widths and offsets and possibly weight ratings. Most are the same bolt pattern of the Vanagon and have a large enough bore to fit even the 2WD ones. To fit in the spare tire carrier you are limited to 6.5 inch width and 215 section tires and maybe 27 inch diameter. That will still require modifications to get it up there. For a 2WD I suggest a 225/60-16XL tire.

*Sorry about the cross post* Not really, but it seems to be the obligatory thing to say when reaching out to two groups. I have never understood why.

Anyway, I have a friend who is offering me 5 Mercedes 16 inch wheels for the taking. He got them for his Vanagon, which by the time he is done with it may be the finest redone vanagon in existence, seriously.

But he is going with another set of forged wheels.Will 16 inch wheels fit, with the proper spacers, on my Vanagon? In the wheel wells? In the clamshell?
