I had a nice 88 vanagon that did this. Got some blocks or half a mile from
home and quit. I finally gave up and sold it for junk to someone who needed
the interior. I did everything you did PLUS clean out the gas tank, it
never stopped. Overheating damage made it not worth considering more
repairs. I live in a diesel world now with both my cars and am not looking
back.
