The rest of North America is not "hostage to California standards." Air pollution due to vehicular emissions is a problem in many parts of the U.S. outside of California, places like Denver, Dallas, Houston, all up and down the East Coast. Many times when I approach a major city, whether by air or by road, I can see that the air is brown. That does not have to be a city in California. What the country is hostage to is the automobile and fossil fuel lobbies that have prevented us from having better standards than we do. mcneely ---- Roger Whittaker <rogerwhitt1@GMAIL.COM> wrote: > I have a buddy who not only believes this argument - he goes further to > state that good for VW to have figured it out - > I am of a mind to support that idea as well - not the illegal part but the > part that says that the rest of North America should not be held hostage to > California standards of compliance - > Which make no sense in the real world where you need power to get up a hill > and breaking energy to stop going down > Regards > On Thursday, October 1, 2015, James <jk_eaton@hotmail.com> wrote: > > > The opposite argument to this is that they did it for the faithful VW > > loving diesel owner. > > Let me explain this alternate argument. > > > > If you have a VW diesel, you probably value its fuel economy and power > > most - not many people outside of the LA and Frankfurt 'smog basins' or the > > EPA care that much about NOx.
