Neither - an idiot light or even a buzzer is better than a gauge.

And the reason is simple. With a gauge your pressure can drop and you won't notice because you will be doing what you are supposed to be doing - watching he road. But a red light coming on will grab your attention every time!

Subject: oil temp or oil pressure

hi,

if you have to chose between an oil temp gauge or an oil pressure gauge for your vanagon WBX...

#1. oil temp gauge: if the oil temp is too high, you would assume the oil pressure will drop, the red idiot light is there and the buzzer will warn you in case it's too low..

#2. oil pressure gauge: if the oil pressure is too low, you would assume the oil is too hot or you have a major leak or some internal parts is worn... but the red idiot light and the buzzer are there doing a double duty...

sooo.. which one would you like to have? #1 or #2

of course having both is nice but this is for an argument sake question I have with someone...

many thanks,

dan
