Thanks again to all who offered good advice for helping me resolve this
issue. Turns out I was a nitwit in the hardware store and didn't double
check the nuts I was using to size the shock tower threads. The said nuts
had been mis-stocked, what I thought were M10 x 1.0 were in fact 1.25
threads. I shall be more thorough in future ( Ha! ). So I ordered some 10.9
strength ones from Bolt Depot ( thanks Jeff )
