Yes, supposedly lots of reasons for this--AM radio interference reduction, ensures static electricity won't build up, etc. etc. Welcome to the modern computer controlled car!

Subject: 1993 Eurovan 2.5 Ground Strap At Hood

Hi all.

Can anyone confirm if the covered braided ground strap at passenger side of engine bay connect to the engine hood?

Why is it grounding the hood to the frame?

I don't own this vehicle. Just helping a friend.
Checked online diagrams but didn't see reference.

An ebay link to what looks like the part:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bus-T4-Genuine-VW-Bonnet-Hood-Earth-Line-Ground-Strap-/251685457312

I see its used in quite a few VW's.

Thanks

Neil.
