if you think it's the water pump,
that's awfully easy to test for.

just remove the w. pump  v-belt and run the engine ..
noise gone, musta been the w. pump.

can't drive it, but you can run it a few minutes.

You listened around with a 'listening hose' ..right ?

( I'll bet you didn't ! )
