I built carbon fiber backing plates behind my factory panels for my focal 165's. Had to do sheet metal work to get the Focals in there, but well worth the effort. I have a pair of Infinity Bookshelf speakers in the back set of my 96 Legacy Wagon and with an old school R/F Us made amp, they sound really good, especially since I only paid $6 for the pair at an estate sale. IF it doesn't say Bose on it, those old bitties figure it's junk......lol DM&FS From: "MICHAEL H" <vwdash80@yahoo.com> To: "WELLHOUSE MAX" <dimwittedmoose@CFU.NET>, "vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM" <vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com>, "Neil2" <vidublu@gmail.com> Sent: Wednesday, December 9, 2015 8:54:47 PM Subject: Re: FatMat install experience ... agreed ... regardless of brand name. insulator to conductor of heat and or noise. speaker pockets may require delicate work to transplant.to new barrier. btdt. survived. put Infiniti References in the doors ; sold factory speakers cheap to another Vanagon owner. using Jetta window cranks to clear speakers. next step ; corrugated plastic door cards ! =(: D) mike From: Max Wellhouse <dimwittedmoose@CFU.NET> To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Sent: Sunday, December 6, 2015 12:54 AM Subject: Re: FatMat install experience Simple answer is yes..... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Neil2" < vidublu@GMAIL.COM > To: " vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM " < vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > Sent: Saturday, December 5, 2015 4:24:15 PM Subject: FatMat install experience I intend to remove the FM and water barrier and reinstall new FatMat directly to the inner door metal.
