At first drive, it will whirl from the start, 0 mph. As I drive a bit more, the whirling will be at higher and higher speeds and not at lower speeds. I tried slowing down, and it does go away, but then comes back as I gain speed again. Eventually it's gone. -Dick- -----Original Message----- From: David Beierl [mailto:dbeierl@attglobal.net] Sent: Monday, December 28, 2015 3:59 AM To: Dick Wong Cc: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: Noisy speedo At 05:10 PM 12/27/2015, Dick Wong wrote: >down the street for the first drive of the day. When mine does this it's always on the first time of the day accelerating to highway speed, probably at fifty-some mph. If I ease off the gas and coast down a few mph it will stop, and won't be back for the rest of the day. I was slower than you have been to realize it was the head chattering and not the cable; and so far I always manage to forget until the next time it happens. VDO apparently fixed this late in production.
