I don't know about NAPA, but the starters that Autozone sells out here are Bosch rebuilds with a sticker over the Bosch sticker. When it comes to rebuilds the Bosch name is becoming just that. Especially with starters for the Vanagon. Lately I have been having good luck with starters and alternators from NAPA and AutoZone. Hi all. I know pretty much anything can be made to fit but from what I'm seeing, the Bosch rebuilt alternator may be a better quality than others. A wbx Bosch reman alt. is much less money than a Jetta Bosch. I'm on a road trip but have basic tools and am sure I can swap pulleys from one alternator to the other. Am driving an 81 westy with Jetta ABA engine.
