I've never "done" mine, any lube or service whatsoever. And now 220,000 miles. I don't have the tools or space or knowhow to attempt this job myself. The mechanic recommended (and he is a very knowledgeable guy) that instead of replacing rear wheel bearings, that he should inspect first. Reason: new stuff is not at good as old stuff. He said new stuff just doesn't last. I'm inclined to agree. He recommends inspection first, re-packing with grease second, but if bearings are No Good after inspection, then replace....at least with the best available. So....Anybody got some insight on those rear wheel bearings? I know the "manual" says they are lifetime, but they didn't think we'd be wanting those bearings to last 40-50 years!! And that's what I want them to do. RichSan Diego
