It's really hard to believe. There used to be two in Alabama near here but one quit doing it, and the other died. What a bummer! John Don't know anyone in the Southeast, but Arizona Transaxle (http://aztransaxle.com/) here in Phoenix rebuilt mine a couple of years ago. Most the shops around here use them, and they usually have one that can be built quickly while yours is on the way there for exchange. I had mine built with a taller 4th gear, and the oiling plate mods for a great price (around $1900 IIRC - the oil plates were ~$100 of that, and the 4th gear about ~$350). Don't have tons of miles on mine, so I can't swear to longevity, but I know several Vanagon owners with lots of miles on theirs without problem. Worth a call... Keith
