The Go Westy Muffler has a heavy wall stainless steel shell and for flow it is basically a straight through design. The only downside is that the flanges are steel. The diameter is slightly smaller than a correct 2.1L muffler so you will want to get their straps and saddles if upgrading to the 2.1L mounting. With this diameter it can be made to work with the 1.9L Brackets if you need to. The GoWesty Cat is CARB approved so in states that require OEM or CARB such as New York it is one of the few legal alternatives. As compared to the low cost options it is larger in diameter (flow) and the element is longer (time, effectiveness) providing much more active material. It is worth the price. The GoWesty tailpipe is also very nice. I would toss the GoWesty hardware and go with stainless on the flanges. At this point I only use the GoWesty exhaust products as the cost is only an incremental increase over the Dansk crap and the mufflers that fall apart internally.

Subject: Which 2.1 muffler?

Hi List,

I’m planning on getting the 2.1 muffler installed on my 1.9.

so, The stainless one at GoWesty is on sale. The shop I plan to go to probably stocks a stock steel 2.1.

Can someone speak to the advantages of the GoWesty set up verses what I’m sure is a less expensive option.

Also, If I do the GoWesty would it be best to purchase their CAT at the same time?

Everyone seems to agree this upgrade is a good idea so I’m just looking for the best route to take.

Thoughts and tips appreciated.
