Only a tiny, tiny percentage of people selling things with wheels *don't* take a loss, meaning they sell it for less than they put into it. Now, hopefully one has traded the cost of deprecation for time enjoying the vehicle. He put $100K into the vehicle? Well, hope that wasn't his retirement money, because the vehicle is worth what someone is willing to pay, and all the receipts in the world won't change the fact that it's an unfinished Synchro project that'll take a ton of work to finish. Land Rover seats don't offset the fact that is has practically no interior. Of course, there's a reason it hasn't sold after multiple years. Every dime I put into our '81, every hour of sweat over that engine bay, every mod and doo-dad I put in/on it, I expect nothing back. If we're lucky, maybe we'll get the original price out of if and when we sell it. Because the money, sweat, and time I put into that vehicle is for *us*. I don't expect the next person to pay me back for it. "Look, I have receipts!" Yeah, well, receipts can't cover up bad taste. :-) But $100K later, and he still can't take it camping this weekend? Man, someone ripped him off. Too bad that someone is him. -- Mike Stewart
