Alistair: oddly enough, the shoes that are in there look very much the same as the GoWesty shoes I have in hand. Like the adjuster lever, e-brake lever, look identical. I can't recall if these were Raybestos Premium shoes or came from my local VW supplier. I pulled the e-brake cables. They were not seized but there is a mark at each in section of cable residing behind the drum. Image: http://tinyurl.com/hx2vywa Of note, the driver side e-brake lever at shoe was really loose. The passenger side lever was tight and normal, for lack of better description. 14 second video showing movement at loose e-brake lever on shoe: http://tinyurl.com/jn8oabu I wonder if that adversely affected e-brake cable adjustment?
