This is the reason why I stopped renting out. A total loss and grand inconvenience in time and money. Though I was only renting them out for about $100/day. The most troublesome was when someone with total lack of knowledge of Vanagons and manual gear changes, clutching. The last time the clutch was burnt blue on the first day. What are the recovery or get home options? This seems like a huge risk for both parties considering vehicles that are not readily replaceable. FAS in Maine has just started renting fully equipped Westies for up to 4 vacationers. $1675.00 a week and 1500 miles. About as much as an expensive hotel stay, but your hotel room doesn't take you places. Dave B.
