It's called a cable boot, or bellows cable boot. I don't see any for sale from the vendors, but you might call them.

Subject: Broken scrunchy or what do you call this cable protector?

Second question concerning onder the van discoveries. this list exists to support each other so I’m going for it this week!

Under my van near the starter and above my transmission are two cables each with a plastic scrunchy like thing on them. they let the cable go in and out and keep it protected from the environment. the upper one is half missing. or it is now. I touched it and it fell apart in my hand. this one seems to lead to the throttle. The cable is clean and moves easily. This will change if I don’t get it covered.

How do I fix this?

Can the plastic scrunchy be replaced? Does the whole darn cable need to be replaced because of this one failure point? The cable will need free movement and be protected from weather.

Tips on this repair and proper name for the part is appreciated.
