I have done this job many, many times. Here is my write up about it on my site: http://www.vanagain.com/drop-and-reinstall-a-gas-tank-on-a-2wd-vanagon/ We also have new gas tanks and all of the seals and fittings you will need as well. Here are the links: http://www.vanagain.com/shop/gas-tank-for-80-84-vanagon/ http://www.vanagain.com/shop/gas-tank-seal-kit-for-air-cooled-diesel-vanagon/ If you purchase from me you can call me on the phone with any questions or problems you run into and I will give you personal phone support. I do this for all my customers as they will attest to. I think the max speed on that stock speedo is 85 mph, later model ones went to 100 (both are very optimistic :-) Ken On Sat, Sep 3, 2016 at 7:41 PM, Daniel Certa <danieljohncerta@gmail.com> wrote: > So I recently purchased the infamous '82 Diesel Westy and have gone through > two fuel filters in a week—sucking up the rust from the bottom of the tank. > I don't want to have to worry about keeping the tank full all the time to > avoid this issue. > I've decided to replace the tank and all associated fittings, hoses, et al > Has anyone done this already?
