The combination of the TDI starter and my automatic version adaptor I feel is still a very solid option with almost twice the torque of the original Vanagon automatic starter, plus much faster cranking speed. Use a new Latrical TDI starter, no core, and the total cost is $155. :) Karl westyventures.com
