yes... about 10 years ago I was driving slow on a National Park road... I
heat a loud pop and the van engine died... I opened the lid and saw black
oil on the coil area. The coil's top was blown way off.. I think it had a
short and/or overheated. Luckily I had a spare to keep going...
it was the original or age unknown coil - not new...
