Going to soundproof my 87 westy and interested in hearing what others have tried and recommend.  I was planning to use fatmat until I saw the discussion here:

That discussion claims that asphalt based materials will not last very long and that they smell.

My interior is completely removed, so now is the time to get it done. Any advice welcome!
