Hi,

I used Fatmat two years ago and covered many areas. Only part I did not do is behind the kitchen areas. I even took off the rear vents and put it in that area.

I never smell anything. The times I have had panels off everything seems tight.

I do believe the van is quieter and I like the sound of the doors and such much better both when closing and even as I walk around the van.

Maybe because I’m blind I tap on my van as I move around. No more tin can sound. Now a nice solid sound.

All,

Going to soundproof my 87 westy and interested in hearing what others have tried and recommend. I was planning to use fatmat until I saw the discussion here:

That discussion claims that asphalt based materials will not last very long and that they smell.

My interior is completely removed, so now is the time to get it done. Any advice welcome!
