For my trailer I carry 2 spares as they are so small and light its not a problem.
As well any Walmart has spares with a rim included for about 35 bucks if I remember correctly (had this happen once).

the idea of using 14" vanagon wheels is I won't have to carry a spare tire.
It will share the same spare as the vanagon... but sure it's custom job...
