You're not wrong, the dot rectangular lights have a different beam pattern than the rarer ( here in North America) e code rectangular. One defining aspect of the e code lights is the sharp low beam cut off.

And yes, the proposed comparison with ken's bulbs in rectangular dot lamps (and I am assuming they are dot lamps) and my round e code lamps won't be fair but maybe still... and here goes ... illuminating :-)
