Go Westy has a clever idea: http://www.gowesty.com/product-details.php?v=&id=23359. I installed this on my son's '87, and I put David's buzzer alarm on my '85. I got the buzzer from Radio Shack: https://www.radioshack.com/products/radioshack-12vdc-mini-electric-buzzer

Both methods work just fine, but the RS buzzer will buzz with the door closed, which is annoying if you want your parking lights on while parked.

My Son (18 last June) is now the main driver of my Vanagon. He woirks the graveyard shift at a local grocery store restorcking the shelves.
When he gets home just after 7 a.m. in the morning, he turns the van off, sees that the headlights go off, and goes to bed. Of course, the parking lights are still on. Unlike more contemporary vehicles, there is no buzzer that goes off when the key is removed and the lights are still on. How do I rig up something that sounds a buzzer when the lights are on, but the engine is off?

Thank you,

John
