Talking with Alistair offline.  Mine may be an oddball.  It's had column work along with other types by the VW dealer under warranty many years ago.  I'd assume they changed them then, so it's best to check what type you have installed before they're needed.

hi all,

I am in the process of removing the dash...

2 odd shape bolts hold the upper part of the steering column to the dash

they have conical head and I don't have any tool to remove but I manage to get them off by mangling them a bit.

I plan to replace them standard hex or allen bolts upon re-installing the dash

anyone knows what's the size of those odd bolts..?
