Hi, I finally got the nerve up to dive into my CV joint's. I couldn't get the CV off the shaft, but I only have a 4 lb hammer, no press here. I was able to remove the external cage & balls which facilitated good cleaning/inspection. I used solvent to clean the CV parts and found 2 surfaces that had little pitts so I'm going to rotate them (manual transmission) per the article @ http://www.van-cafe.com/home/van/page_16_9/cv_joint_maintenence.html After I cleaned the CV parts with solvent, I blew them dry with compressed air. Is that sufficent prior to re-greasing, or should I use soap & water, brake cleaner/??? to remove any traces of solvent prior to greasing? For my wheel bearings, being paranoid, I did use soap & water on everything & put it in my oven to dry fast but I'm wondering if I'm bordering on insanity, or if just compressed air on the components is sufficent. Thanks, Steve Williams
