Hi, I'm still dawdling about new engine for my syncro. To be honest the adapter plate vs diesel bell housing ( and no doubt unobtainium in North America syncro diesel fuel tank) has me a bit daunted. I have a couple of used motors in the shop, old 1.8 digifant and a 2.0 aba (also have a 2.5 subie core) . Was leaning heavily to the 2.0 rebuilt and slightly modded. But recently I was given the option of a complete Jetta with AWP ( I believe it's AWP ) 1.8t for a good price. I'd like conformation that the AWP engine bolt pattern is different than the older I4 blocks and will not mount to diesel vanagon bellhousing. And similarly, the diesel oil pan will not fit the AWP. Am I right? Thanks, Alistair
