Karl Mullendore makes an aluminum adapter to put a TDI starter in.  I have
one for the automagic version, it's sweet.  The manual version requires a
bit of grinding on the starter mounting flange which I hope he modifies, as
it interferes with the idea of easy swaps at the FLAPS.
