FYI, I have gotten all sideways and stuck on wet grass in my Syncro with rear diff locked when 4WD would not engage due to a leaking vacuum line.  I was on the side of the Blue Ridge Parkway staring down a precipitous drop in elevation within inches of my right rear tire.  Limited slip or a locker is a good idea, bit keep in mind it won't always pull you clear.
