I re thought Staceys comments and decided to route the rad fan B+ wire under the body again. Few folks would consider converting from air cooled to water cooled but for anyone that's done it or is considering it....... The air cooled cabin heating duct hole below the dash has room not only for heater core hoses but for wires too. I'll be running my rad fan B+ through that hole to a spare fuse position on the stock fuse panel. (now defunct gas heater fuse). Yes there's heat there at times but all the wires have a loom cover. I modelled my cooling system on a 1985 1.9 WBX. In reviewing the wire size between battery and 16 Amp fuse to low/hi rad fan wiring, it seems that for a 10' run, it might be wise to use a #8 wire. I'd been using a #10. There were no signs of heat damage after some years of use. But, Bentley shows a #8 wire between the 30 buss on fuse panel and 16 Amp fuse for rad fan wiring. My rad fan has never stepped up to the high speed setting but at 12 Volts, 300 Watts (engine off, engine super hot), an online calculator shows it draws 25 Amps. Depending on parameters used in an online wire size calculator, I'm seeing either 9 or 8 AWG for 10' of wire. Neil. On 8/13/17, Neil N <musomuso@gmail.com> wrote: > Thanks Stacy.
