I've had great success with Peak Lifetime Global, 60/40 mix. https://www.walmart.com/ip/PEAK-PXA0B3-Antifreeze-Coolant-1-gal-RTU-G4037717/17201158?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=1122&adid=22222222227010052247&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=150343663857&wl4=pla-261227233139&wl5=9016961&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=101593696&wl11=online&wl12=17201158&wl13=&veh=sem Be sure to mix only will distilled water. As city water has chlorine in it, and well water has other crap in it. -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of David McNeely Sent: Tuesday, September 19, 2017 5:24 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: Not tires, not oil... but anti-freeze! Must be phosphate free. If it doesn't say it is phosphate free, it isn't, regardless of the compatibility claim on the label. Zerex has a phosphate free antifreeze, I don't know about Prestone. Also, VW still sells the blue stuff, though some dealers may not stock it. mcneely On Tue, Sep 19, 2017 at 10:17 AM, Larry Alofs <lalofs@gmail.com> wrote: > If you use Prestone (or another quality brand) that says that it is > compatible with all other anti-freezes, you won't have to worry about > using something else if you have to buy some on the road somewhere. > > Buy concentrate and mix 50-50 with distilled water or water from a > dehumidifier. > > Larry A. > > > On Tue, Sep 19, 2017 at 12:40 PM, Steve Williams < > steve@williamsitconsulting.com> wrote: > > > Hi, > > > > I just did a complete cooling system swap. Hoses, stainless pipes, > > stainless coolant tower, RMW aluminum tank, new thermostat housing, etc. > > > > I'm in Canada and in close proximity to Canadian Tire. Is there a > > recommended Brand anti-freeze for our beloved Vanagons? > > > > Having never bought it in volume before, should I get concentrated, > > or pre-mix? If I get concentrated, I assume I need to get > > de-mineralized water from somewhere... is that correct? > > > > Thanks, > > Steve Williams > > > --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus
