Kim … you’d certainly get 50-miles. Many years ago (c. 1990-91), I was casually involved with a project that converted a 64 (or ’65) splitty to electric using lead-acid batteries and an industrial motor fitted to the existing 4-spd tranny with an adaptor plate. I believe Bob Hoover was involved in (or aware of) a similar effort in Arizona around the same time. We managed a range of ~40 - 50 miles range (in most situations) and the bus accelerated more quickly than with the 40hp single-port that was removed. Battery technology has come a long way since then. > On 11-Feb-2018, at 19:00, KIM BRENNAN <kimbrennan@MAC.COM> wrote: > > Hmm, only need 18 or so of those to equal the battery capacity in my Chevy Volt. Let’s see…1 under each driver seat, maybe 6 under the rear bench. Just gotta find room for 10 more…, and then a few grand for an electric drivetrain, and we might have a range of 10-15 miles…Of course, remove the dino motor and there would be lots of room in the rear for batteries. > > >> On Feb 11, 2018, at 5:21 PM, Karl Mullendore <tdiguru@WESTYVENTURES.COM> wrote: >> >> On Sat, 10 Feb 2018 08:40:58 -0500, kenneth wilford <kenwilfy@GMAIL.COM> wrote: >> >>> Working on getting lithium battery to work in a Westy as the second >>> battery.
