Don You should be able to do that, just depends on the size of the caliper and which steel wheel. I have the go westy bigger brakes i.e. Hefty Caliper and have to use spacers to get some 15 alloys on. For steel 16 gives me good clearance. Has anyone done that? Steel wheels don't break, alloys do. I go to remote areas in my Vanagon. Iearned the hard way with alloys in Baja... > These Vanagons are .made for adventure... > > On Mar 3, 2018 6:24 AM, "Mbob1950" <mbob1950@gmail.com> wrote: > Most of the 15" steels will not work with some big brake systems. I went with 15" alloy from Passats on the boneyard for $27 each. Depending on offset you will need spacers and longer lug bolts. T3 technique has some good info on SAMBA on this. > > > Bob > > http://idiopath2017.wordpress.com > http://idiopath2018.wordpress.com > > > > > > > On Mar 3, 2018, at 07:38, B Feddish <UprightBassGhost@HOTMAIL.COM> wrote: > > > > It’s time for new tires for my 83.5 and I was thinking to moving to 15” since I’d like to upgrade to the Big Brake Kit sometime in the future. The thing is $600 for a set of alloys is not in the budget. Any suggestions for a less expensive alternative, I don’t care if they are steel wheels. > > > > Thanks, > > Bryan > > > > > > Sent from Mail<https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=550986> for Windows 10 >
