Hi Dennis. I am still on my original starter. What is your preferences for a replacement? 1985 automatic with a 2.1 Boston Bob.

Thanks
Jeff

The Bosch rebuilds are notorious for not being able to reliably crank over the engine. You need to test voltage and current looking for voltage drops and battery capacity. This is the main reason folks look for starter alternatives. For econo rebuilds NAPA and AutoZone have been much better than the Bosch although automatic starters are harder to obtain. You also want to make sure the pinion bushing is in good condition, (manual trans).
