I picked up my '84 Westy from The Motorworks yesterday, after they
replaced the left rear axle for a failed outer CV joint.  Their next
available appointment was July 13, but Alex, the owner, fit me in when
he had a cancellation this week.  And the final bill was quite modest!

(The outer CV boot was completely torn away, so no wonder it failed.)

Alex installed a Chinese axle assembly, because I told him I needed the
van back asap.  He was willing to rebuild my axle with a German CV
joint, but it would have taken longer, so he worked according to my
priorities, which is always helpful.  I'm in the middle of an extended
road trip, so I didn't want to be stuck!

When I arrived at the shop yesterday and paid the bill, I chatted with
Alex briefly, and when I said I'd like to take the axle with the failed
CV joint, he grabbed the box from the dumpster.  He put the axle in the
box and put the box inside a shipping box, so I have a nice clean box to
carry my project until I have time for it.

Alex's shop is very busy, mostly with classic cars probably owned by
people much more wealthy than me.  But there was at least one other
Westy on hand.  I was grateful for the recommendation and very pleased
with the fast and friendly service I received from The Motorworks.
